February 21-23, 2018 Inclusive Urban Development for Informal Workers Project under the Foundation for Labour and Employment Promotion (FLEP) with supported by the European Union held an Annual Learning Meeting (ALM) at Rajamangala Songkhla Mermaid Hotel, Songkhla city. About 102 of representatives from local authorities, informal workers, FLEP and Homenet Thailand Association participated in this meeting. The Songkhla Municipality team provided warm welcome, sharing experience in improving quality of life of informal workers as well as making a visit to informal worker groups including Batik producers group, Hydroponics vegetable farmers and street vendors groups. Besides, participants have good opportunity to visit old town of Songkhla city where is in the process of applying to be a World Heritage City. The municipalities of Chiang Rai, Phayao, Khon Kaen, Mahasarakham, Samut Songkhram, Nakhon Pathom and Nong Chok District, Bangkok, also shared their activities working with informal workers. As a result of this meeting, it shows the important roles, local authorities have played to raise quality of life of informal workers who are part of the workforce driving the city’s economy forward. It also sparked the importance of organizing and network building of informal workers.
